TIP # 1 – HIT THE SAVE BUTTON
Accidents can happen at any moment and backing up your data can save your company time and resources in the event of a cyber threat or data loss. Save your work often and back up your data to a cloud-based storage software that is both company and IT-approved.
TIP # 2 – PASSWORD PROTOCOLS
A strong password is critical to keeping your data safe. The ideal password should include at least 10 characters, numbers, upper and lowercase letters, and symbols. Rule of thumb: passwords should not contain a word found in the dictionary.
TIP # 3 – DOUBLE TROUBLE
Using a 2-Factor Authentication (2-FA) provides a second layer of protection when logging in to company devices or online accounts. Two is always better than one because while your password may have been hacked, it’s not enough to pass through a 2-FA check.
TIP # 4 – CAUTION IS KEY
Be careful with whom you talk. Not all emails and phone calls are legitimate. If you are unexpectedly contacted by someone asking for company or personal information, DO NOT provide it. This is a red flag. Immediately report any activity like this to your IT administrator.
TIP # 5 – STICK TO THE SCRIPT
Avoid using unauthorized software on company-provided devices. While some software might be legitimate, it may also be a security risk. Always contact your IT administrator about using the right tools for the job.
